Egypt has achieved a great Arab and international achievement, as it was ranked among the first Category countries in the Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) issued by the International Telecommunication Union for the years “2023-2024” out of 47 countries.
It is worth mentioning that the ITU issues the Global Cybersecurity Index every two years, which includes 194 countries worldwide, and relies in the classification of countries on 5 criteria, including regulatory policies, legislation, institutional framework, human capacity building, the availability of technical and technical capabilities necessary and cooperation with countries and international organizations.
Egypt’s progress globally according to the global index comes due to the active role played by the National Center for computer and network emergency preparedness (EG-CERT) of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA).
Egypt has developed the national strategy for cyber security “2023-2027”, and pays great attention to capacity building and qualification of competencies and trained cadres, in addition to continuous monitoring of the state of cyber security in the country, strengthening cooperation with international organizations and countries in this field, and attention to raising public awareness of the risks and threats to individuals and institutions.
