Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, prime minister, witnessed this morning at the government headquarters in the new administrative capital, the signing of an investment contract by Nissan Egypt for the manufacture of a third model in its factory in Egypt and the expansion of its manufacturing activities in the local market, in the presence of engineer/ Hassan Khatib, Minister of investment and foreign trade, and Mr. Fumio Iwai, ambassador of Japan to Egypt.
The contract was signed by Mr. Jordi Villa, president of “Nissan Africa” on behalf of “Nissan International”, and engineer / Mohamed Abdel Samad, managing director of “Nissan Egypt”.
On the sidelines of the signing, engineer/ Mohamed Abdel Samad, managing director of Nissan Egypt, said that under the contract, the third model will be manufactured with a local component percentage exceeding 54%, adding that the company is currently studying plans to export the third “model” that will be assembled locally.
“Abdul Samad” continued: Nissan announced its plan to invest 45 million dollars in this project, and in addition, the company will inject additional investments worth two million dollars to reach a production capacity of three models exceeding 30 thousand cars per year starting from 2025.
The managing director of “Nissan Egypt” said: this comes in conjunction with the celebration of” Nissan Egypt ” 20 years since its launch in the Egyptian market through its factory fully owned by the Japanese company.
Engineer / Mohamed Abdel Samad also pointed out that” Nissan Egypt “has exported more than ١٦ a thousand cars of the” Sunny Sunny ” model manufactured locally, and is working to move forward to achieve the company’s goals to increase the volume of exports by almost 50% during the current fiscal year compared to the export rates of the fiscal year ٢٠٢٣, and is also working to increase the dollar revenues from exports that exceed ١٥٠ million dollars so far.
“Abdul Samad” explained that “Nissan Egypt” is a leading company in the Egyptian car market, where it offers a mix between locally assembled and imported models, in addition to providing support technologies for electric cars.
