The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers revealed that China exported approximately 5.834 million vehicles during the period from January to November 2024. Chinese car exports increased by 22.5% compared to last year, making it a candidate to top the list of the world’s largest car exporters.
Major importing countries
Russia took the first place with an export volume of 1.06 million units, an increase of 26% over the previous year, accounting for more than 18% of China’s total exports.
Mexico, the United Arab Emirates, Belgium, and Saudi Arabia: came in second to fifth places, with an import volume ranging from 242.4 thousand to 422.2 thousand units each.
The spread of Chinese cars in the world markets
Chinese cars were previously aimed at emerging markets such as Africa and South America. But with the development of Chinese industry, especially in the field of new energy-powered cars, exports have expanded to such developed markets as Europe and North America.
Growth and success factors
According to Cui Dongshu, secretary general of the China Passenger Car Association, industrial flexibility, high quality, and technical development have been the most important factors that have supported Chinese car exports. Geopolitical factors have also helped to strengthen the presence of Chinese cars in markets such as Russia.
