“Etisalat” launches a roadmap for building a deep technology system in Saudi Arabia

The Ministry of communications and Information Technology, in partnership with King Abdullah University of Science and technology and cooperation with “Hello Tomorrow”, launched the deep technologies report, which reviews the reality of the deep technologies system in the Kingdom and the most prominent initiatives supporting the achievement of the goals of the kingdom’s Vision 2030.

The report aims to highlight the promising potentials and opportunities in this vital sector, which is an essential pillar to promote the digital economy and sustainable development.

 

The report highlights five main axes of the deep technologies system in the kingdom: a deep technology system, investment, infrastructure and system enablers, talents, policies, regulations and incentives, and highlights the role of research, development and innovation in enhancing the kingdom’s position as a global destination for advanced technologies.

 

The report also highlighted the remarkable growth witnessed by the deep technologies sector in the kingdom, where 50% of startups are concentrated in the fields of artificial intelligence and the Internet of things, while the number of high-growth startups reached more than 43 companies contributing to driving innovation, and these companies were able to raise financing investments exceeding 987 million dollars in 2022 alone, with the support of 104 investors, and the kingdom has witnessed a 75% increase in the number of researchers since 2015, which indicates the scale of efforts exerted to develop the research and development system as one of the pillars of achieving Vision 2030.

The undersecretary of the Ministry of Technology, Eng. Mohammed Al-rabeeaan, stressed that this report represents an important step in strengthening the kingdom’s position as a global destination for advanced technologies, and that the kingdom seeks, through focusing on innovation and investing in competencies and infrastructure, to build an integrated system that supports digital transformation and sustainable development.

He called on those interested in the government and private sector, especially academia and investors, to take advantage of this information to draw a roadmap that promotes innovation and contributes to achieving the goals of the kingdom’s Vision 2030.
