The Supreme Council of universities held its regular meeting, chaired by Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of higher education and scientific research, on Saturday, in the presence of Mr. Mohammed Abdul Latif, Minister of education and technical education, and Dr. Mustafa Rifat, Secretary of the council and members of the council, at the branch of the Arab Academy for science, technology and maritime transport in the new city of Alamein.

The council thanked the family of the Arab Academy for science, technology and Maritime Transport, headed by Dr. Ismail Abdul Ghaffar, president of the Academy, for hosting the meeting of the Supreme Council of universities.

The council congratulated Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel Sadek for commissioning him to do the work of the president of Cairo University, Dr. Mohamed Hussein for commissioning him to do the work of the president of Tanta University, Dr. Rawya Yahya for commissioning him to do the work of the president of Port Said University, Dr. Louay Saadeddine for commissioning him to do the work of the president of Aswan University, and Dr. Sabreen Abdul Jalil for commissioning her to do the work of the president of Luxor University, and the council wished their lordships continued success and success during the coming period.

The council congratulated Dr. Omar Sharif for assigning him to carry out the work of the secretary of the Supreme Council of University Hospitals, and the council also congratulated Dr. Ahmed Anani for assigning him to work as an adviser to the minister of higher education and scientific research for health policies, and the council wished their lordships success and success during the coming period.

Mr. Mohammed Abdul Latif, Minister of education and Technical Education, explained the challenges facing the pre-university education system at the level of classroom deficit, teacher deficit and the intensity of curricula compared to education systems at the regional and international levels.the minister presented the elements of the ministry’s executive plan to deal with these challenges at all levels.

The minister directed the continuous readiness of computer laboratories at all public universities to assist students throughout the period of electronic coordination to enroll in public universities and institutes, and to provide technical support through the provision of qualified mentors to help students to ensure their facilitation throughout the coordination period.

The minister also directed the continuous efforts of universities to welcome the new academic year 2024/2025, and the completion of all maintenance works for buildings, terraces, classrooms, laboratories, and university cities, and to ensure the presence of safety and security means in all university facilities; to preserve lives and facilities.

The minister also directed that all university hospitals should be ready to receive new students, conduct the necessary medical examinations before they enroll in universities, and ensure that all logistical needs are provided to continue their work in providing health services to citizens.

The minister directed the readiness of universities to participate in the “learn healthy” initiative in light of the state’s interest in human development and the imminent start of the implementation of a new initiative to support the Egyptian citizen under the name (a new beginning for Human building) for 100 days, with the participation of many ministries, as the Ministry of Higher Education will participate through the program (learn healthy) to assess the physical efficiency of all new students at the University, estimated at about 650 thousand students, through the participation of University Hospitals and student hospitals, the initiative aims to make a field study of Physical Efficiency and benefit from the results in improving the efficiency and public health of students through awareness health counseling and advice If the program is successful for first-year students, the idea will be gradually generalized to students of other years at the University.

 

The minister also directed the readiness of universities to participate in the “100 Sports Days” initiative, coinciding with the International University Sports Day (September 20 and the beginning of the new academic year), and it is targeted to allocate 30 minutes for sports and various activities every day, and it is also targeted to participate about 50 universities at least about 10 thousand students in each participating university, bringing the total number of students to 500 thousand students.

Dr. Ayman Ashour praised the activities in which universities participate in the New Alamein city, including the participation of universities in the car rally, which received the participation and patronage of Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, prime minister, with the participation of 43 student teams from 28 Egyptian universities with the participation of 750 students in this year’s edition, in addition to the participation of universities in the “world Alamein” festival, in all cultural, artistic and sports activities.

The minister also praised the achievements made at the level of ranking universities internationally, including the inclusion of 8 Egyptian universities among the top 1000 universities in the world in the Shanghai general Chinese ranking for the year 2024. The minister pointed out the need for universities to continue to provide support to researchers to increase scientific publication in prestigious scientific journals; to upgrade the ranking of Egyptian universities in the major international rankings.

The council listened to a report on the most prominent activities of the Ministry of higher education and scientific research during the month of August, led by the presence and honor of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, prime minister, the electric car rally Egypt “EVER”, organized by the Academy of scientific research and technology at the Ministry of higher education and scientific research in cooperation with the United company for media services, and hosted by the new city of El Alamein, in the presence of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of higher education and scientific research and a number of ministers.

The minister of higher education and the chairman of the Egyptian pharmaceutical authority witnessed the signing ceremony of a joint cooperation protocol between the Ministry of Higher Education, represented by the Supreme Council of universities, and the Egyptian pharmaceutical authority, to establish a clear mechanism for the implementation and follow-up of training (excellence) for pharmacists graduates from Egyptian universities, as this training comes within the requirements of obtaining a license to practice the profession; in order to hone the skills of graduates and provide them with the practical experience necessary to keep abreast of developments in the field of pharmacy, to serve the interests of citizens and the university education system and provide and provide ways to qualify and develop the capabilities and competence of graduates to meet the requirements of the labor market.

Dr. Ayman Ashour opened the knowledge embassy at the Egyptian cultural office in Washington, via video conference, and the minister also participated in a speech via video conference, in the opening of the knowledge embassy at El Alamein International University, with the aim of spreading knowledge to all researchers and students at all Egyptian universities in all regions.

The minister chaired the meeting of the Council of the Academy of scientific research and technology, which announced the names of the winners of the state prizes in science and advanced technological sciences for 2023, the names of the winners of the pioneer and women awards for 2023, and the names of the winners of the awards of bodies and individuals for 2023.

Dr. Ayman Ashour chaired the first meeting of the ministerial committee to implement the project of harmonizing study outcomes and the labor market, in the presence of the minister of education and technical education and the minister of Labor, where they discussed ways to develop training programs to suit the requirements of the labor market, providing real job opportunities for graduates, linking education with the labor market, searching for mechanisms to link the outputs of higher education to the needs of different sectors, and encouraging cooperation between universities and companies.

 

Dr. Ayman Ashour participated in the first meeting of the Ministerial Working Group specialized in studying the recommendations of the study submitted by the Senate Youth Committee under the title “artificial intelligence.. Opportunities and challenges”, and review what is being implemented with regard to artificial intelligence programs and applications over the past years in various fields of work, as well as the future needs and challenges facing them, in order to identify the similarities and differences between what is on the ground and what the study can provide in the field of artificial intelligence, within the framework of unifying efforts among all state institutions.

The minister also participated in the meeting of the ministerial group for human development, with the aim of coordinating work between ministries, working to improve health care and early diagnosis of diseases, enhancing the quality of education, improving access to excellent education, expanding vocational education programs and raising the standard of living

The minister held a meeting with the minister of culture to discuss maximizing cooperation between the two sides, developing an expanded action plan to enhance awareness and culture among university students in various sectors, developing a new system to discover and nurture talented people in literary and artistic fields, holding cultural activities and book exhibitions at universities, and presenting artistic and theatrical performances at University theaters.

The minister held a meeting with the minister of housing, utilities and urban communities to follow up the executive position of the ongoing projects at El Alamein International University and New Mansoura.

The minister participated in the meeting held by Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, prime minister, to follow up the executive position of the new National Institute of Oncology Hospital in Sheikh Zayed City (500 500) and its operation plans, and to study all the offers submitted for the operation of the hospital to reach the best, and work on the speed of operation of the first phase soon.

Dr. Ayman Ashour witnessed the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between the American University of Rowan (Rowan) and the modern Group University Foundation (MES) with the aim of establishing a branch of the American University of Rowan among the branches of foreign universities hosted by the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The report pointed out that many meetings and meetings were held with foreign officials to discuss mechanisms to enhance joint scientific and research cooperation.

Dr. Adel Abdul Ghaffar, media advisor and official spokesman of the ministry, stated that the council adopted the update of the regulations for organizing graduation parties of students at Egyptian universities, to emphasize that the organization of graduation parties and university student events is exclusively inside the university campus and facilities affiliated to the University, and any event held outside the facilities affiliated to the university may not be called a “graduation party”, and the name or logo of the university may not be used in such events, and in the annual activities plan In the case of organizing an event at the university level, the approval of the relevant vice-president of the University and the University Council must be obtained, and a committee is formed to oversee the organization of any student event headed by one of the faculty members and the membership of a number of faculty members and administrators at the University, and one or more executive committees are formed, and the faculty members, the auxiliary body and administrators at the University are the basis of the strength of these committees, and these committees perform their executive functions under the supervision of the Supervisory Committee, and students participate in As co-executors under the supervision of the Supervisory Committee and the executive committees.

Within the framework of maximizing the soft power of Egyptian universities, the council reviewed the approval by the prime minister of the vision of the Ministry of higher education and scientific research for Egyptian universities to offer study programs in cooperation with universities in the Gulf countries and Africa, provided that these programs are awarded scientific degrees to contribute to maximizing the investment of Egyptian universities in their scientific and human assets and knowledge rights outside the country.the council authorized the minister of higher education and scientific research to take the necessary measures in this regard.
