President Al-Sisi assures German Chancellor of the need to stop the war in Gaza

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi received, this evening, a telephone call from German Chancellor Olaf Schulz, during which the aspiration of the two countries to strengthen bilateral relations in all fields, as well as to enhance coordination and continuous consultation on regional and international issues of mutual interest was confirmed.

The official spokesman of the presidency of the Republic, Ambassador Ahmed Fahmy, stated that the contact witnessed the discussion on the developments of the situation in the Middle East, where it was agreed on the importance of making all possible efforts to prevent the expansion of the conflict in the region, and to put an end to the war in the Gaza Strip, which has been almost a year, and in this regard, the president stressed the importance of the international community playing a decisive and effective role towards ensuring the availability of political will to achieve the desired ceasefire agreement, the exchange of hostages and detainees, and responding positively to the efforts of mediators

The president also stressed the need for a comprehensive political path through which an independent Palestinian state is established on the basis of a two-state solution in accordance with the relevant resolutions of international legitimacy, in order to achieve sustainable stability in the region.

The two leaders agreed to continue consultation and coordination on efforts to restore peace and stability in the region, where the German Chancellor appreciated the intensive and sincere Egyptian efforts to try to defuse the crisis and stop the war, expressing his appreciation for Egypt’s continuous efforts in delivering humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, expressing the agreement of the two countries on the need to ensure the access of relief aid in sufficient quantities to address the humanitarian disaster experienced by the people of the Strip.
