Egypt stresses the need to immediately stop the Israeli aggression in Gaza and Lebanon

Ambassador Osama Abdel Khalek, permanent representative of Egypt to the United Nations, participated in a meeting of some Arab ambassadors today with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, where ambassador Osama Abdel Khalek reviewed the deteriorating situation in Gaza as a result of Israeli attacks on civilians, the cessation of humanitarian assistance almost completely, especially in northern Gaza as a result of the Israeli blockade aimed at preventing the passage of aid and the use of starvation weapons, and the expansion of the scope of Israeli aggression to include Lebanese and Syrian territories, in flagrant violation of Security Council and General Assembly resolutions since the beginning of the crisis.

The permanent representative of Egypt stressed the need for an immediate cessation of Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, the implementation of UN resolutions on the ceasefire and the access of aid, the rescue of more than ٤٠٠ a thousand civilians trapped in the northern Gaza Strip under constant Israeli bombardment, and the adoption of a unified and firm international position on Israeli violations of international humanitarian law, ambassador Osama Abdel Khalek confirmed Egypt’s complete rejection of Israeli efforts to stop the work of UNRWA, and the need to commit Israel to all its responsibilities as an occupying power.

Ambassador Abdelkhalek also briefed the secretary-general on Egypt’s efforts in the ceasefire mediation process, its continuous contacts with all influential countries to calm the explosive regional situation, its efforts to alleviate the humanitarian deterioration in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, and its continuous efforts to unite the Palestinian side and support the Palestinian Authority, stressing Egypt’s commitment to support Palestinian rights and resume the path of peace, until the Palestinian people achieve their legitimate rights, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the borders of the Fourth of June لعام with East Jerusalem as its capital
