Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of youth and Sports, Mr. Hussein Al-Muslim, president of the international Aquatics Federation and Secretary of the Kuwaiti Olympic Committee, Mr. Khaled al-Khulaifi, president of the Arab Aquatics Federation, and engineer Yasser Idris, president of the Egyptian Olympic Committee and president of the Egyptian Swimming Federation, witnessed the press conference announcing the inauguration of the first Regional Center for development and development of aquatics in the Middle East in Egypt.

During the conference, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi expressed his pride and pride in this great achievement, which represents an important step towards strengthening Egypt’s position as a leading country in water sports at the regional level. The minister of youth and Sports pointed out that this center will contribute significantly to raising the level of sports performance and the comprehensive development of the Egyptian swimming system not only for players but also for coaches, who will be able to benefit from the training and development programs provided by the center under the supervision of the International Water Sports Federation. He stressed that this partnership represents a strategic step towards achieving Sports Excellence at the international level, stressing that Egypt has the capabilities and capabilities that qualify it to achieve Olympic medals in water sports.

Dr. Ashraf Sobhi added: “the cooperation between the Egyptian Ministry of youth and sports, the Egyptian Swimming Federation and the international Aquatics Federation aims to establish a strong sports base of players and coaches who will be able to compete strongly in international tournaments . Mr. Hussein Al-Muslim, president of the International Water Sports Federation, expressed his happiness with Egypt’s hosting of the third Arab junior and junior water sports championship, which will be held in Cairo from August 24 to 28. This Championship embodies Egypt’s continuous commitment to the development of water sports and the strengthening of Arab cooperation in this vital field.

He explained that achieving Olympic medals requires a great effort and an integrated system aimed at preparing athletes to reach this level. The president of the International Federation concluded his speech, stressing that he has a firm conviction that Egypt has the capabilities that qualify it to achieve an Olympic medal in swimming. For his part, engineer Yasser Idris, president of the Egyptian Swimming Federation, explained that the Federation continues its tireless efforts to develop the sport of swimming in Egypt and bring it to world levels. At the beginning of the conference, the president of the Federation reviewed the outstanding results achieved by the Federation’s players during the past periods, which resulted in them winning a number of medals in various tournaments.

Engineer Idris pointed out that the Egyptian Swimming Federation oversees 6 branches spread throughout the Republic, and includes more than 130 thousand swimmers. The federation also has more than 2,000 registered coaches, who contribute to the preparation of a new generation of sports champions.

He stressed that the federation aims to qualify at least 10 swimmers to participate in the Olympic Games scheduled to be held in Los Angeles in 2028.

He also pointed to the historic achievement achieved by swimmer Maha Amer in diving competitions, where she recorded an achievement that Egypt has not seen since 1922, the same year in which Farid Samika recorded his name in the history of Egyptian sports.

As for the coaches, engineer Idris stressed the importance of developing their capabilities through the various training centers that the federation is working to provide throughout the Republic, in order to ensure the preparation of training cadres capable of leading the next generation of sports champions.
