Prime minister Dr. Mustafa Madbouly stressed the government’s keenness to implement the directives of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi regarding the development of the site of the great Transfiguration in the city of St. Catherine, in order to make the maximum possible use of the unique features of that area, and so that this holy spot becomes a global destination for tourists, befitting its spiritual, religious, archaeological and historical value, being an incubator of the three heavenly religions.
This came during the meeting held by Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, on Saturday, to follow up the position of the projects being implemented within the framework of the development of the great Transfiguration site in the city of St. Catherine, in the presence of the minister of housing, utilities and urban communities, engineer Sherif El Sherbini, the head of the central agency for reconstruction Mahmoud Nassar, and the Assistant Minister of housing for Technical Affairs, Dr. Abdul Khalek Ibrahim.
The minister of housing reviewed the position of the main development projects, where he presented the executive position of the visitor center, which includes: (reception area, shops, administrative offices, flight booking offices, restaurants and cafeterias), he also reviewed the position of the peace building and Square, which includes: an arena for outdoor celebrations, a diverse Museum Exhibition Building, a theater and a conference hall, cafeterias and meeting rooms.. He touched upon the development of the Wadi Al-Deir area, explaining that it includes the Wadi Al-Deir walkway, a parking lot, and a beauty pond.
He also touched upon the executive position of the mountain hotel, pointing out that it has 144 different rooms and suites, and regarding the position of the tourist resort on the top of the plateau, indicating that it includes a reception building on an area of 1200 M2, villas, chalets.
For his part, the head of the central agency for reconstruction reviewed the position of the tourist bazaars area, explaining that it contains 16 bazaars on an area of 1500 m2, and also reviewed the position of the residential neighborhood in Zaitouna, which consists of 21 hotel complexes, and 26 residential units in one hotel complex with a total number of 546 housing units.
He also reviewed the position of the new government complex in St. Catherine city, indicating that it consists of the city council building, the main entrance to the building, open areas, a parking area for cars, as well as reviewing the executive position of the Social Club, located on a total area of 1920 m2, as well as the position of the development of the Bedouin housing area, and the position of the development of the Heritage Town Center, which includes: the development and expansion of the Holy Valley mosque, the development of existing shops, and the establishment of new bazaars.
He noted the efforts made to establish a network of roads and utilities and prevent the dangers of floods in the city of St. Catherine, the development and upgrading of the efficiency and protection works against the dangers of floods for the St. Catherine Airport Road, the works of the electricity network and transformer stations, and raising the efficiency of a water line (Abu Redis/ St. Catherine).
