Prime minister: the state has been able to add twice the number of existing universities in 10 years

During the opening of Badia University in the New October City, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, prime minister, delivered a speech during the ceremony held by the University on this occasion in partnership with the American University of Texas, in the presence of a number of ministers, members of the House of Representatives, ambassadors, media and CEOs of a number of leading companies operating in the Egyptian market.

The prime minister began his speech by expressing his happiness at being among such a large crowd on this special day, which witnesses the official launch of one of the largest educational edifices in Egypt, Badia University, which is one of the fruits of the vision pursued by the Egyptian state during the past period in the process of construction, development and development, and partnership between the state and the private sector.

During the speech, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly pointed to his personal keenness over the previous periods to be present at the opening of partnership projects with the private sector, such as The Sun Capital Arabia project, the I-City project of Mountain View company in New Cairo, the “Badia” project today in the New October City, as well as the South Med project in the north coast, stressing the keenness of the Egyptian state through this approach to maximize the partnership process and benefit from state assets, where the state contributes land, so that investors and the private sector productive and constructive for both parties.

The prime minister continued: I was keen to be present today, as the opening of Badia University adds another dimension, human development, stressing that it is a very important file for the new government, pointing out that Dr. Khalid Abdul Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development, Minister of Health and population, is concerned with that file.

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly explained that during the tenure of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar as Minister of Higher Education, the Egyptian government was working to attract and establish distinguished private universities and public universities in partnership with well-known international universities.

The prime minister pointed out that in 2014, the number of universities in Egypt was between 50 and 52, and today we have 100 universities, so that the Egyptian state has been able to add about twice the number of universities that already exist in 10 years.

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly stressed that the Egyptian state is keen to raise the efficiency of the higher education system in Egypt, where there was a trend to have, besides public universities, a variety of private universities, and a number of them, in addition to technological universities, have been established in partnership with the private sector, as I witnessed the opening of Al-Suwaidi University recently, while encouraging the private sector to establish private universities, to be in partnership with prestigious international institutions, such as the partnership that is being realized today between Badia University and Texas Medical University.

The prime minister pointed out that these efforts promote the goal of Egypt’s return to become a Regional Center for education at all levels, and restore its role as a destination for all students of the surrounding areas to learn in Egypt, stressing that these steps come in implementation of the vision set by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, president of the Republic, and are being implemented by all state agencies, where we see its fruits through such kind of projects that are being opened today, so that Egypt is in the desired position.

At the end of his speech, Dr. Mustafa Madbouly thanked all those who contributed to the implementation of Badia city, such as the Ministry of Housing and its agencies, and the private sector represented by the Palm Hills Group, as well as those who contributed to the implementation of this prominent educational edifice represented by “education” company as an educational institution, and thanked the University of Texas administrators for their presence today, expressing his wishes for further progress and success through the opening of similar projects during the coming period.

At the beginning of his speech, Eng.Mohammed Al-Rashidi, managing director of “Taleem” company, chairman of the board of Trustees of Badia university, thanked His Excellency President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the president of the Republic, the prime minister and his government, especially the minister of higher education for their support to the university education sector in Egypt, the transition towards fourth generation universities and keeping pace with global trends.

He added that Badia university represents a model that reflects Egypt’s ability to provide great educational models capable of competing globally, stressing that the University’s goal is to compete to provide high-quality education, achieving the aspirations and requirements of future generations, pointing out that education is a fundamental pillar of sustainable development, and also provided an explanation of the University’s founding plan since its inception, noting the effort exerted by the university to achieve an international partnership according to international standards, as well as its efforts in implementing the state’s orientation towards expanding international cooperation in the field of higher education, and contribute to the implementation of the vision of the national strategy” Egypt 2030″.
